......Contrary to the general opinion, after creating the world, on the seventh day God only rested till noon. He spent the rest of the day creating Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and Mr Zacharias. And he set them to come on Earth in the 20th century.
......This concert, third in a row, ended their staying in Romania. There were 3 amazing days of Haydn led to perfection. The audience loved them and last night the concert ended after 1am. We would have wanted more, but after the first encore Christian Zacharias said "two more menuets and we go home". Standing ovations made the member of the orchestra smile all the time. I guess that you play diferently when you know that the audience loves you, right?
......In sign of recognition of his work in the field of music, Mr Zacharias received the "Cultural Order" from the Romanian Presidency.
.....On the way back home I realized I had a big smile stuck on my face. It's the fourth time this happens. It was the same after Faust in Viena, Cecilia Bartoli and Tosca in London. I want more beautiful moments like this one.
UPDATE with an article. An interview with Mr Zacharias by Anca Ioana Andriescu.

......This was the second marvelous evening in the company of Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. They can be surely considered among the best chamber orchestras in the world. No point commenting. You have to listen to them. And Mr Zacharias is best both as pianis and conductor. People love him and the orchestra. It was a full house. A few words about him:
..
......Christian Zacharias is considered to be one of the great German pianists of today and one of the most remarkable musical explorers of our time. Known for his consistent and uncompromising individuality, Christian Zacharias achieved international attention as prizewinner in the Geneva Competition in 1969 and the Van Cliburn Competition in 1973. In 1975, he won the First Prize in the Ravel Competition in Paris and began an international career encompassing recitals in all the major international venues, award-winning recordings and concerts with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. Christian Zacharias also appears in chamber music recitals with partners such as the Alban Berg Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, the Leipziger String Quartet, Heinrich Schiff and Frank Peter Zimmermann.
......In 1992, Christian Zacharias launched his conducting career, making his debut conducting the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva. This was soon followed by invitations to conduct countless of the leading orchestras in Europe.
......His US-Debut as a conductor took place in 2000 conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and in 2006 with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. This was followed by regular re-invitations to the renowned American orchestras.
......In September 2000, Christian Zacharias assumed the post of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. He started his tenure as principal guest conductor of the Göteborgs Symfoniker in the season 2002/ 2003. Starting with the season 2009 / 2010, Christian Zacharias will be involved in the conduct of St. Paul Chamber Orchestra as a so-called "Artistic Partner".
......After having conducted Mozart’s "La Clemenza di Tito" at the Geneva Opera House as his first opera production in 2006, Christian Zacharias will present his second opera project together with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne in December 2008: Jacques Offenbach’s "La belle Hélène".
......At the Mozart Festival Barcelona, which takes place annually, Christian Zacharias holds the position of Artistic Director. For this year’s topic "Paris et l’esprit français", Christian Zacharias and the Orquesta Sinfonica Barcelona will present works by Mozart, Ravel, Gounod, Poulenc, Haydn and others.

Trio for piano, violin and cello in f sharp minor Hob.XV : 26

During the interval

......Second part of the concert - Symphony no. 45 in f sharp minor Hob.I : 45 “Les Adieux” (The Farewell Symphony).
......It was written for Haydn's patron, Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, while he, Haydn and the court orchestra were at the Prince's summer palace in Eszterhaza. The stay there had been longer than expected, and most of the musicians had been forced to leave their wives back at home in Eisenstadt, so in the last movement of the symphony, Haydn subtly hinted to his patron that perhaps he might like to allow the musicians to return home: during the final adagio each musician stops playing, snuffs out the candle on his music stand, and leaves in turn, so that at the end, there are just two muted violins left (played by Haydn himself and the concertmaster, Alois Luigi Tomasini). Esterházy seems to have understood the message: the court returned to Eisenstadt the day following the performance.

Well done! Bravooooooooooo! Cheerings for 10 minutes or more.

Bye bye, my favorite concert hall. See you tomorrow night!
...... Now, here's the finale of The Farewell Symphony. Daniel Barenboim conducting at the News Year Concert in Vienna, 2009. Be patient and watch till the end. Look at his face! :)) He chose to stay on stage till the end. Mr Zacharias left at some point.
